COLÉGIO DOS JESUÍTAS DO FUNCHAL

A Igreja de São João Evangelista do Colégio dos Jesuítas do Funchal apresenta-se como um dos mais belos monumentos portugueses do século XVII e a mais rica das igrejas da Madeira. A sua construção marca a transição do maneirismo internacional para o barroco português. A obra dos Jesuítas apresenta uma talha dourada do séc.XVII, uma valiosa peça de talha seiscentista.

COLLEGE OF FUNCHAL'S JESUITS

Saint John the Evangelist of College of Funchal's Jesuits is one of the most beautiful 17th century monuments and the richest church of Madeira. Its construction represents the transition from international Mannerism to Portuguese Baroque. The work of the Jesuits order and displays remarkable gilded wooden works from the 17th century.
